Demonstration
Rich Reimers will be giving a demonstration on tool sharpening beginning at approximately 6:30 P. M. at our
June meeting.
We wish to thank Chuck Trudel for his demonstration last month on carving faces - such as Santa
face ornaments.

July Picnic
Our picnic will be held on July 1st this year. Chuck Turner, Lyle & Donnis Morgan will again be handling
the set-up and the barbecue grill. The club will be providing the hot dogs, rolls and beverage.
You are reminded to bring a dish to pass, your own plates, cups, utensils and napkins. You may also wish to
bring chairs and picnic table. We extend an invitation to other woodcarvers’ clubs to join us.
FAIR SHOW
The Fair runs from August 6th through the 17th this year. Entry forms must be postmarked by July 18, 2008.
You can download forms at america’s-fair.org if you do not have a computer call the fair at 716-649-3900 ext.404 and
request forms to be mailed to you. If you have trouble accessing the fair website contact the editor, I have the forms saved
on my computer (they are in a PDF format)
MAY SHOW
On Sunday, a visitor wanted a commission piece done and is seeking someone to do it. His name is Ken Pytlak
from West Seneca, New York phone 716-674-1263. The piece he wants is a primitive (folk art) style baseball player about 18-24"
tall. He is willing to spend in the neighborhood of $200-$300 dollars. Wood type is optional, but he will need it painted
and basswood is fine.
Another person seeking a commission piece to be done is Mary Hotchkiss from Perry, New York, phone
585-237-2303. The carving she wants is an angel made from a piece of cherry she has which is about 8" in diameter and
14" tall.

Commission carving
A person looking to have three newel post carved. They are 3 1/2 inches in diameter made of red oak with a
round top over. He would like to have leaves carved in them.If you are interested in doing this contact me at 716-823-7742

June Bauer needs to have a newel post carved, she does not have the post, the railings are red oak.

A RENAISSANCE FESTIVAL
Saturday, June 7th 11:00 A.M. To 6:00 P.M. At the Herschell Carrousel Factory Museum, 180 Thompson
Street,
North Tonawanda, New York .
Swashbuckling sword duels, jousting, medieval songsters, skillful jugglers, artisan demonstrations, face painting,
crafts and dancing will be featured .
Food and beverages will be available for purchase.
Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for children ages 2 - 12.
An unlimited game bracelet may be purchased for an additional $5.
This festival is presented by the Herschell Carrousel Museum and The Society for Creative Anachronism.
Membership Refreshment Fund
Chuck Turner won $ 28.00 in the May membership refreshment fund.
There was 49 members present at our May meeting,18 members were carving.
